Aucost Holiday Park, Western Hungary – Quiet modern campsite ideal for families, one pump at the bar, which closes early – N 46°43.666 E 018°39.317′

Thermal Camping, Eastern Hungary – Pleasant place with extensive hot spring bath complex and various other health treatments  – N 47°05.756′ E 020°45.019′

Cincis Camping, Western Romania – Glorious lakeside camping, basic facilities but lovely – N 45°41.322′ E 022°51.255′

Camping de Oude Wilg, Central Romania – Very pleasant little Dutch-run campsite in central Romania, N 45°47.036′ E 024°34.035′

Camping Lac Murighiol, Danube Delta, Romania – Pleasant campsite in Murighiol, offering good boat tours showing off the wildlife of the Delta – N 45°02.450′ E 029°09.383′

Sakar Hills Camping, Biser, Eastern Bulgaria – Very pleasant British-run campsite with inclusive WiFi for all-important blog updates – N 41°52.217′ E 025°59.494′

Mystik Camping, Kilyos, Turkey – Pleasant location being in a small seaside town, friendly staff and inclusive WiFi, but cold showers and poor site drainage.  Probably lovely in good weather, but when Dan was there it was cold, wet, flooded and miserable! – N 41°14.667 E 029°01.942′

Istanbul Mocamp, Selimpasa, Turkey – Quite a long way out from Istanbul (Mystik is actually closer) but the buses to get into town from Selimpasa are quicker than from Kilyos, once you’ve got down to Selimpasa from the campsite (approx 4 miles).  Warm showers, and decent site drainage make this a better bad-weather option than Mystik, but no internet – N 41°05.066′ E 028°24.366′

Hotel Kum Camping, Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey – Pleasant enough little place despite the bizarre name, has motel, restaurant and swimming pool in the high season – N 40°09.548′ E 026°14.849′

Helles Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey – The main Commonwealth forces memorial for lives lost in the 1915 Gallipoli campaign – N 40°02.730 E 026°10.759

Entrance to Troy National Park – time didn’t allow Dan and Ed to visit, but this is where you turn off the main road to get to Troy – N 39°57.254′ E 026°17.535′

Garden Camping, Selcuk near Ephesus, Turkey – Nice peaceful little place close to the centre of Selcuk and great for visiting (approx 2 mile walk to) the Roman city of Ephesus – N 37°57.367′ E 027°21.996′
